                                                                                  After our successful holiday to Brittany last August, Woodley Jumbulance Group have booked to go to Holland in 2012, from
                                                                                  19th August to 26th. Further information will be available in the New Year.

                                                                                  Marriage Week Mass Celebrations ~ 11th & 12th February

                                                                                  We are celebrating Marriage week, which is 7th – 14th February, at Mass this weekend. There is a special notice board in the church porch for everyone who is married to bring along a photo of your wedding day, pin it to the board to share with fellow parishioners. The hymns and bidding prayers at both weekend Masses will reflect and celebrate Marriage and commitment. Sunday Mass is also a family Mass which ties in nicely with this theme. Please join us for tea and coffee after Sunday Mass and share our Celebrating Marriage cake ~ all are
                                                                                  most welcome.

                                                                                  Study Group ~ 21st February (then weekly on Tuesday for 6 weeks)

                                                                                  In a world sadly beset by injustice, violence & exploitation, it is often difficult to articulate the stance that we as Catholics should take in response to events. The Church responds to this need through its extensive doctrine of social teaching – helping us not to lose heart, but
                                                                                  to rediscover the centrality of personal responsibility and the gift of service to others. Its concept of the “Common Good” provides an understanding of what it means to be a human being, and how vital it is to maintain and project solidarity.

                                                                                   Anyone interested in learning more about Catholic Social Teaching is invited to come to a new Study and Discussion Group, meeting
                                                                                   in the Church Centre on 6 Tuesdays 7.30 - 8.30pm with the first session on 21 Feb. The sessions will explore how we can formulate our 
                                                                                  views and actions over issues such as poverty and wealth distribution, trust in public figures, damage to the environment and the morality of the market. Although there is a huge range of guidance and encyclicals, the key reference will be "The Common Good" statement, 
                                                                                  originally issued by the Bishops Conference in 1996.

                                                                                  Eucharistic Minister Training ~ 25th February 2012

                                                                                  For all new Eucharistic  ministers there is a Training day at  English Martyrs Hall, Reading led by Fr John O’Shea on the spiritual  aspects of this important  ministry, on Sat 25th February from 11am till  3pm. Please sign up on  the form on the notice  board by 20th February.

                                                                                  Christian Community Action Barn Dance ~ 3rd March 2012

                                                                                  For CCA's 20th Anniversary they are  holding a Fundraising Event - A barn dance, run by the Scamping Rogues on Sat 3rd March 7:00 - 10:00 pm. At; The Warehouse, 1a, Cumberland Rd, Reading, RG1 3LB. .Adult tickets cost £6 (or £8 on the night) Children's tickets cost £2 (or £4 on the night),Tickets are available from all CCA shops. Please come and have some fun with your friends and support this event so that we can raise funds towards the work that we are doing throughout Reading.
