Sacraments in Action
The law of Christ is underpinned by the seven Sacraments he instituted. They touch all the stages and all the important moments of Christian life - giving birth and increase, healing and mission to the Christian's life of faith. They create a tangible link between the key stages of our natural life and the corresponding milestones in our spiritual one. The seven Sacraments are organised in three groups:
Sacraments of Initiation ~ Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist (Communion)
Sacraments of Healing ~ Reconcilliation and Anointing of the Sick
Sacraments of Mission ~ Marriage and Holy Orders
The order is not the only one to be followed, but it does show the sense of an organic whole, in which each Sacrament has its own vital place. The Eucharist (Communion) is however the "Sacrament of Sacraments", occupying a unique place and requiring that all the other Sacraments serve its end.
