First Holy Communion and Reconciliation for Children
Communion brings us into the fullness of our life in Christ, and requires us to be spiritually ready before receiving it.
First Holy Communion is celebrated in June. Preparation begins early in the academic year and is open to all who have entered Year 3. The children follow a recognised programme and parents are fully involved throughout.
Preparation for Reconciliation (Confession) is incorporated into the First Communion programme.

Children Celebrate their First Holy Communion
Our children, who have been preparing since last September received their First Holy Communion at the weekend. It was comforting to see so many family, relatives and friends offering encouragement and support. They opened their hearts to be touched by the love and joy of Communion. To receive Christ’s Body and Blood for the first time, the gifts that all His children so lovingly desire. The children came to Mass the next day wearing their communion clothes and a Communion Breakfast celebration was held afterwards in the School hall for them .

First Holy Communion children learn about Pentecost
As part of their preparation for First Holy Communion there is a special Liturgy session for the children during the Sunday Mass following each First Holy Communion session. The children leave Mass with the Childrens' Liturgy children but join the catechists in the church centre where they celebrate the Liturgy of the Word for that particular week and re-inforce the topic they have covered in the session the day before. The children re-join the rest of the congregation for the offertory when they are invited onto the Sanctury by Fr Chris to gather round the Altar during the Eucharistic prayer.
